The DeSoto Eagles overwhelmed the Willis Wildkats with a commanding 65-31 victory on Friday, ending Willis’s remarkable 12-game winning streak and their playoff journey.
Despite the loss, Willis quarterback DJ Lagway delivered an impressive performance, throwing for 335 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 112 yards and another score. Lagway’s highlight reel included a 68-yard dash that showcased his explosive playmaking. Receiver Jalen Mickens contributed with 100 receiving yards, but the Wildkats ultimately couldn’t keep pace with DeSoto’s relentless offense.
DeSoto quarterback Darius Bailey led the charge with 137 passing yards, four touchdowns, and a rushing score, maintaining his reputation for efficiency by completing 75% of his passes. Running back Deondrae Riden added to the offensive onslaught with 147 rushing yards.

Defensively, DeSoto’s front seven dominated, tallying four sacks—two apiece from Jamari Laye and Keylan Abrams—disrupting Lagway and the Wildkats’ rhythm throughout the game.
The win keeps DeSoto’s undefeated record intact at 12-0. While Willis’s season ends at 12-1, DeSoto now turns its focus to their next matchup, hosting Cedar Hill on Friday. Both teams are riding high, but only one will continue their playoff run.
