In a high-scoring thriller at Pennington Field, Southlake Carroll edged past Euless Trinity 56-48 on Friday night, in a game that felt more like a basketball match than a football showdown. The Dragons surrendered their highest point total in over a year but managed to secure the win, improving their record while dropping Trinity to a hard-fought loss.
The Dragons set the tone early with an 85-yard opening drive capped by a one-yard touchdown from USC commit Riley Wormley. Despite turnovers from both sides, Southlake Carroll regained focus with a five-yard touchdown run by Baylor commit Davis Penn. The Trojans answered back when quarterback TJ Tupou connected with tight end Lukas Sanchez for a 13-yard score, but Carroll surged ahead to a commanding 35-14 halftime lead.

Trinity roared back in the second half, fueled by a 10-yard touchdown run from fullback Michael Saafi and a 47-yard reception by Ethan Wright, setting up a two-yard rushing touchdown from Tupou. The second half became a nail-biter as both teams traded touchdowns. Carroll’s offense, led by quarterback Graham Renda’s five touchdowns and 393 total yards, kept the Dragons just out of reach. Wormley added 181 yards and two scores to round out Carroll’s offensive explosion.
On the other side, Tupou’s impressive performance for Trinity—267 passing yards, 64 rushing yards, and four touchdowns—kept his team in contention until the final whistle. Both defenses stepped up late, with crucial stops on both ends sealing the game as time ran out.
Next, Southlake Carroll returns home to face Keller Timber Creek, while Euless Trinity looks to rebound on the road against Byron Nelson.
