In a clash of Texas high school football heavyweights, the Coppell Cowboys edged out the Guyer Wildcats 31-24 on Friday night, remaining unbeaten this season. The Cowboys, now 5-0, extended their road winning streak to eight games, a run that dates back to last year.

Coppell quarterback Edward Griffin led the charge, passing for 180 yards and two touchdowns while adding 49 yards on the ground. Wide receiver Tucker Cusano was his go-to target, contributing 61 receiving yards. Guyer’s Kevin Sperry delivered an impressive performance in defeat, throwing for 172 yards and two touchdowns and rushing for 101 yards on 14 carries, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Coppell’s balanced attack.

The win solidifies Coppell’s dominance as they prepare to host Little Elm on Friday at 7:00 p.m. The Cowboys have been an offensive powerhouse, scoring at least 31 points in each of their last three games. Meanwhile, Guyer, now 3-2, will look to bounce back when they take on Hebron at home. The Wildcats, averaging 33.8 points per game this season, will aim to regain their footing in front of their home crowd.
