
Southlake Carroll extended their undefeated run with a commanding 48-7 victory over Northwest, clinching a playoff berth and solidifying their hold on the District 4-6A title race. The Dragons delivered a statement performance, dominating on both sides of the ball and ending Northwest’s six-game winning streak.
The Dragons wasted no time asserting control, with Baylor commit Davis Penn opening the scoring on a 4-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. Moments later, quarterback Angelo Renda connected with TCU commit Brock Boyd for a stunning 64-yard touchdown. Boyd had an electric night, racking up 135 yards and two touchdowns on just four receptions.
Northwest briefly closed the gap early in the second quarter when Kobey Wall scored on a two-yard direct snap, making it 14-7. However, Southlake Carroll’s offense quickly regained momentum. Boyd added another touchdown with a 44-yard grab, and Penn rushed for his second score of the night, giving the Dragons a commanding 28-7 halftime lead.

The second half belonged entirely to Carroll. Renda threw a 31-yard touchdown to Blake Gunter and added a 10-yard rushing score before being pulled late in the game. He finished with 239 passing yards, three touchdowns, and 63 rushing yards. Special teams capped the evening with a blocked punt by Mateo Fodor, returned for a touchdown by Christian Glenn.
Southlake Carroll improved to 8-0, securing their spot in the playoffs and showcasing their championship-caliber form. Meanwhile, the loss dropped Northwest to 6-1.
Next, Southlake Carroll will aim to maintain their momentum against Hurst L.D. Bell, while Northwest looks to bounce back against Byron Nelson.
