The Southlake Carroll Dragons and the Hebron Hawks will clash this Friday at 2:30 p.m., both determined to keep their winning streaks alive. Southlake Carroll enters the game riding a 12-game streak, while Hebron boasts four consecutive victories.
Dragons Soaring High
Southlake Carroll showcased their resilience in a nail-biting 49-42 victory over Frenship in their last playoff battle. Star quarterback Angelo Renda delivered a standout performance, throwing for 265 yards with a 79.3% completion rate and adding 72 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Wide receiver Blake Gunter also shined, hauling in 93 yards and two scores.
The Dragons’ defense made its presence felt as well, recording four sacks, with Jack Van Dorselaer leading the charge with 2.5. The win elevated Southlake Carroll to an unblemished 12-0 record and reaffirmed their status as a powerhouse in Texas football.
Hawks Gaining Momentum
Hebron had little trouble dispatching Bowie in their previous game, earning a 51-35 victory. Dual-threat quarterback Patrick Crayton Jr. was the catalyst, racking up 127 rushing yards and a touchdown while passing for 160 yards and two scores. Receiver Drew Koster contributed significantly, amassing 125 yards and two touchdowns.
The Hawks’ ground game was unstoppable, tallying 315 rushing yards—their season high. Their recent success has propelled them to an 8-4 record, with their offense averaging an impressive 43.2 points per game over their last six outings.
Looking Back, and Ahead
The two teams last met in September, with Southlake Carroll dominating Hebron 59-16, fueled by a commanding 35-13 halftime lead. However, with both teams in peak form, Friday’s matchup promises to be a much closer contest.
As the Dragons aim to extend their perfect season and the Hawks look to pull off an upset, this rematch is shaping up to be a thrilling showdown on the road to a state title.
