The Gunter Tigers continued their postseason dominance with a decisive 33-7 victory over the Holliday Eagles on Thursday, securing a spot in the 3A Division II state semifinals. This win extended Gunter’s impressive 11-game winning streak and marked their eighth straight victory over Holliday.

Gunter set the tone early, with quarterback Dylan Tokarz scoring on a 21-yard keeper in the first quarter. By halftime, the Tigers had a commanding 24-0 lead, including a 17-yard touchdown run from Brock Boddie and a 40-yard field goal from Preston Tarpley. The Tigers’ momentum carried into the second half when Mitchell Gage returned the opening kickoff 98 yards for a touchdown, effectively sealing the win.

Holliday managed to avoid a shutout late in the game, with Steele Skinner catching a 27-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Hunter Jones in the final seconds. Skinner finished with 93 receiving yards, while Jones threw for 284 yards and the lone touchdown.

Holliday’s season ends at 11-3, while Gunter, now 12-2, moves on to the next round, continuing their quest to defend their state title. The Tigers will face the winner of the Canadian-Wall matchup as they aim for a third consecutive championship.
