Argyle Liberty Christian surged to a decisive 45-24 victory over Dallas Parish Episcopal on December 7, 2024, clinching the TAPPS Division I state championship for the second year in a row. Held at Waco ISD Stadium, the triumph added a fifth title to Liberty Christian’s storied program history.
The Warriors came out firing, with junior quarterback Quinn Murphy hitting Brady Janusek for a stunning 50-yard touchdown on the opening drive. Although Parish Episcopal quickly answered with a 23-yard scoring run by Noah Wheeler, Liberty Christian’s relentless offense soon took over. Running back Chase Garnett broke free for a 70-yard touchdown, putting the Warriors ahead for good.
Murphy showcased elite precision, throwing for 276 yards and four touchdowns, including three to Janusek. Garnett dominated on the ground with 229 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 23 carries, exposing defensive vulnerabilities in Parish’s game plan. Liberty Christian’s defense added to the pressure, forcing two interceptions and holding Parish to just 7 points in the second half.
Parish Episcopal’s senior quarterback and Purdue commit, Anderson, threw for 300 yards and two touchdowns but faced a relentless Liberty defense. His late-game touchdown pass to Beckham Smith offered a glimmer of hope, but the gap was too wide to close.
With a 12-1 record under head coach Jason Witten, Liberty Christian’s season will be remembered for its unmatched dominance and a hard-fought repeat championship against one of Texas’ strongest programs.
