Gordon Leaves No Doubt, Overpowers Whiteface to Repeat as 1A Division I Champions
ARLINGTON — The six-man stage belonged to Gordon from the opening whistle. In a display of speed, firepower, and total command, the Longhorns tore through Whiteface 70 to 24 on Wednesday afternoon at AT&T Stadium, securing their second straight state championship and polishing off a perfect 15 and 0 season.
A Fast Start That Never Slowed Down
Gordon wasted no time asserting control. The Longhorns pushed the pace and never let the Bulldogs catch their breath, piling up points at a clip that felt almost routine for a program accustomed to lighting up scoreboards. By the middle of the third quarter, the mercy rule brought the game to a premature finish, ending any hopes of a Whiteface rally.
Reed and Walters Put on a Show
Every time the Longhorns touched the ball, something explosive followed. Ry Reed led the ground assault with three touchdown runs, two of them long-burst breakaways that left defenders chasing shadows. His backfield vision and acceleration set the tone for the afternoon.
In the passing game, Brayden Walters turned each of his three receptions into six points. His 92 yards felt larger than life as he broke tackles, outran angles, and delivered highlight after highlight for the Gordon faithful.
Quarterback Stryker Reed made it a three-way attack, dropping in two touchdown passes while adding scoring runs of his own from 12 and 45 yards out. Each drive seemed to reveal a new weapon in Gordon’s arsenal.
Whiteface Shows Heart Despite the Onslaught
The Bulldogs came in undefeated and determined, and while the final score was lopsided, they didn’t go quietly. Ethan Kauffman punched in a hard-earned 17-yard touchdown and later hauled in a short scoring toss from Isaak Soliz. Whiteface finishes its campaign at 14 and 1, a season filled with fight and resilience.
Championship Form from Start to Finish
From sideline to scoreboard, Gordon looked like a program operating at an elite level. The Longhorns controlled the tempo, won every matchup, and delivered another championship performance that leaves little question about their place atop the six-man ranks.
Final: Gordon 70, Whiteface 24
Mercy rule with 9:45 remaining in the third quarter. Longhorns claim back-to-back titles.
