Celina Roars Back to the Throne, Blasts Kilgore to Capture Ninth State Championship
ARLINGTON — After nearly two decades away from the UIL summit, Celina stormed back with a performance that left no doubt. The Bobcats unleashed a scoring avalanche inside AT&T Stadium on Friday night, dismantling Kilgore 55 to 21 to reclaim the Class 4A Division I title and secure the program’s ninth state championship.
Only Aledo and Carthage sit ahead of Celina in the Texas football record books. And after this outburst, the Bobcats look poised to chase even more.
Bentley Takes Center Stage
Sophomore quarterback Bowe Bentley played like a seasoned superstar rather than a 2026 prospect. He torched the Bulldogs for five touchdown passes and racked up 265 yards through the air while adding another 68 on the ground. Every deep shot, every rollout, every strike seemed to tilt the night further in Celina’s favor. His command of the offense earned him Offensive MVP honors without question.
Bentley’s favorite targets delivered fireworks of their own. Ethan Rucker opened the game with two explosive touchdown grabs of 40 and 44 yards, setting the tone for what would become a long night for Kilgore’s secondary. Colton Rodriguez then picked up the torch, exploding for 149 yards and two third quarter scores from 50 and 63 yards out, turning the game into a rout before the final frame even began.
Momentum Turns Into a Mauling
Kilgore briefly held a 14 to 13 edge early in the second quarter, but that lead was gone in a blink. From there, Celina took full control and rattled off 41 unanswered points. Kicker Braden Johnson jump-started the surge with a pair of field goals, and the offense kept pouring on points at will.
Then the defense stepped in to add its own exclamation point. Linebacker Luke Biagini jumped a route, snagged an interception, and sprinted 27 yards for a pick six that energized the Celina sideline and earned him Defensive MVP honors. Moments later, Harrison Williams bullied his way in for a seven yard rushing touchdown, widening the gap to 48 to 14.
By the time Bentley launched his fifth touchdown pass late in the third quarter, the Bobcats were already celebrating in spirit.
Kilgore’s Early Fight Not Enough
The Bulldogs came out swinging. Quarterback Kayson Brooks contributed both of Kilgore’s touchdown passes and led the team in rushing with 69 yards. But turnovers and stalling drives made it impossible to keep pace with Celina’s relentless onslaught. Once the Bobcats found their rhythm, the Bulldogs had no way to slow the avalanche.
A Powerhouse Resurfaces
Celina’s 456 yard offensive eruption against a defense that had battered opponents all season sent a clear message: the Bobcats are officially back among Texas high school football’s elite. Seventeen years after their last championship celebration, Celina returned to the biggest stage and delivered one of the most complete performances of the UIL weekend.
Final score: Celina 55, Kilgore 21 — a long awaited title reclaimed with emphatic authority.
