North Crowley Leaves No Doubt, Dominates Westlake to Claim 6A Division I Throne

ARLINGTON — If North Crowley wanted to announce itself as the new heavyweight of Texas high school football, it could not have scripted a louder statement. Under the bright lights of AT&T Stadium, the Panthers unloaded every weapon in their arsenal and overpowered Austin Westlake 50 to 21, finishing a perfect 16 and 0 season with a state championship performance that echoed across the state.

For the first time since 2003, the Panthers hoisted the trophy. And they did it with force.

A Lightning Bolt to Start the Night

The tone was set instantly. On the very first snap of the game, quarterback Chris Jimerson Jr. flipped a flea flicker back toward midfield, where Quentin Gibson streaked past the secondary for a 75-yard touchdown. Fifteen seconds in, the Panthers had sent a message that this would be a track meet on their terms.

Westlake answered with a quick touchdown of its own, but that brief tie was the last moment the Chaparrals felt in control. After that, the Panthers took command and never let go.

A Scoring Surge That Buried the Chaps

North Crowley found the end zone on six of its first seven possessions, turning a competitive opening into a second-quarter runaway. A defensive fumble recovery near the goal line lit the fuse for a massive swing, and Jimerson wasted no time punishing the mistake. He flipped a simple screen to Gibson, who turned it into a 44-yard highlight that sent the Panthers’ sideline into a frenzy.

By halftime, North Crowley had piled up 367 yards and built a 28 to 7 cushion. Westlake, usually the team dictating December games, found itself dizzy and searching for answers that never came.

Stars Shine as Panthers Hit Full Stride

Jimerson orchestrated the fireworks with precision and swagger, finishing with 299 passing yards, four touchdown throws, and an additional score on the ground. Gibson put on a show worthy of a championship stage, torching Westlake’s secondary for 181 yards and three touchdowns to take home Offensive MVP.

If that aerial assault weren’t enough, running back Cornelius Warren III hammered home the advantage with 217 rushing yards. His 75-yard breakaway in the third quarter turned the title game into a celebration.

On defense, the Panthers were just as relentless. Derrick Gleason earned Defensive MVP after piling up tackles, notching a sack, and forcing a fumble that helped tilt the game early.

Westlake Runs Into a Wall

Chaparrals quarterback Rees Wise played with heart, totaling 258 yards of offense and two rushing scores. But the Westlake attack spent the night trying to keep pace with a North Crowley unit that simply refused to slow down. By the end, the Panthers had outgained the Chaps by nearly 300 yards.

When Jimerson hit Gibson for a third touchdown late in the fourth quarter, the Panthers were already beginning to savor the moment. The final drive drained the last of the clock and any hope of a Westlake rally.

A Run for the Ages

North Crowley didn’t just win a championship. They delivered a masterpiece, knocking off both reigning 6A champions earlier in the playoffs and finishing the year with a performance that will be remembered for a long time.

Final: North Crowley 50, Westlake 21

Twenty-one years after their last title, the Panthers climbed back to the top. And the way they did it sent a clear message across Texas — this crown belongs to a program that played like champions from start to finish.
