Argyle saw a heavyweight showdown to open the season, but once the final fireworks faded, it was Frisco Lone Star walking off Eagle Stadium with a statement victory. The Rangers overpowered Argyle 44 to 21, fueled by one of the most electrifying individual performances the opening weekend could offer.
No player shined brighter than junior dynamo Karece Hoyt. Every time he touched the ball, the field tilted. Eight offensive touches turned into 128 yards and four touchdowns, and his impact stretched far beyond offense. He stacked five tackles, grabbed an interception, and jumped on a loose ball, putting together a night that felt like an entire month’s worth of highlights.
His fingerprints were on the game immediately. Hoyt tipped a pass into the air and snatched it, flipping possession before the crowd had even settled. Moments later, he streaked past the Argyle secondary and hauled in a 52 yard strike from sophomore quarterback Trey Wright for Lone Star’s first score of the season.
The avalanche continued. Hoyt added two more touchdowns in the opening half, including a smooth 23 yard catch just before the buzzer that sent Lone Star into the locker room with a commanding 26 to 7 lead. Wright handled his varsity debut with steady confidence, finding Ryder Mix and Logan Brown to keep Argyle guessing, while senior back Isaiah Massey battled through contact to maintain the Rangers’ rhythm on the ground.
Argyle flashed its own firepower. Logan Rexroat sparked the home crowd with a five yard touchdown run after slicing through the defense on a 37 yard burst earlier in the drive. Maguire Gasperson and Nathaniel Bruce worked to keep the Eagles in striking distance, but Lone Star’s answers came too quickly and too often.
After halftime, both teams traded longer drives, yet Lone Star’s scoreboard control never wavered. Hoyt lined up in the wildcat to punch in his fourth touchdown, and Massey tore free for a 21 yard score to stretch the margin. On the defensive end, linebacker Nicholas Viveros anchored a punishing unit, racking up double digit stops while teaming with Kaleb Tasby to jar loose a ball in the third quarter. Hoyt recovered it, further cementing his claim as the night’s most impactful player.
Argyle tacked on two late field goals, but the damage was long done. Lone Star’s blend of explosive offense and suffocating takeaways made sure the opener belonged entirely to the Rangers.
Next up, Lone Star returns to Kuykendall Stadium for its home opener against Garland, while Argyle shifts focus toward rebounding from a tough early season test.
