Southlake Carroll Leaves No Doubt, Rolls Past Trinity in Dominant District Showcase

SOUTHLAKE — The game was billed as the heavyweight clash that would decide District 4-6A supremacy, but only one contender ever landed punches. Top-ranked Southlake Carroll unleashed a relentless four-quarter surge, dismantling No. 8 Euless Trinity 44 to 6 and sending a loud message to the rest of Texas.

Dragons Strike First and Never Look Back

As soon as the Dragons touched the ball, the tone of the night shifted. Angelo Renda finished a bruising early drive with a short keeper for the game’s first score, and Carroll immediately stole possession again after a perfectly placed onside attempt. Two snaps later, Renda delivered a dart to Brody Knowles for another quick touchdown.

Trinity’s trademark power run game never found its rhythm. By the end of the opening frame, Carroll held a 14 to 0 lead and had choked off nearly every rushing lane the Trojans hoped to exploit.

A Late Twist Before the Break

Renda pushed the margin wider in the second quarter, soaring over the pile for his second rushing touchdown. Trinity finally answered just before the halftime whistle when JT Harris muscled the Trojans downfield and quarterback Mack Lineweaver located Kaden Donaldson for a short scoring grab.

What appeared to be a small dose of momentum flipped instantly. Southlake blocked the extra point, and Gavin Strange scooped the loose ball and sprinted the length of the field for a two-point return. A potential 21 to 7 deficit instead ballooned to 23 to 6, stamping Carroll firmly in control at the break.

Dragons Detonate the Second Half

Any hopes of a Trinity rally disappeared quickly. Early in the third, Renda found Brock Boyd streaking down the sideline for a 30-yard touchdown. Moments later, Parker Harris hauled in an interception to give Carroll a short field, and Brooks Biggers finished the drive with a tough six-yard run.

Carroll delivered the knockout blow early in the fourth when Renda uncorked a deep strike to Blake Gunter, who coasted into the end zone on a 58-yard scoring play that pushed the advantage to 44 to 6.

Numbers That Tell the Story

Renda orchestrated the attack with complete command, hitting 18 of 22 throws for 278 yards and three touchdown passes while adding two more on the ground. Boyd continued his season tear with another triple-digit receiving total.

Trinity leaned heavily on JT Harris, who popped several explosive carries, but the Trojans struggled to sustain drives and handed Carroll two crucial takeaways.

A Firm Grip on the District Race

Southlake Carroll improves to 4 and 0 and tightens its hold on the district crown while extending its win streak over Trinity to four straight meetings. The Dragons look every bit like the championship contender they were projected to be.

Trinity falls to 3 and 1, still firmly in postseason contention but left with plenty to clean up as the schedule toughens.
