West Mesquite Puts On a Show, Hands Creekview Its First Loss

CARROLLTON West Mesquite walked into Tommy Standridge Stadium with swagger and walked out with a signature win. The Wranglers controlled every quarter on Thursday night, handing previously undefeated Creekview a decisive 53 to 21 defeat and stretching their road streak to three victories in a row.

It has become routine for West Mesquite to leave scoreboards lopsided. Seven of their wins this season have been by margins of 27 points or more, and this one quickly followed the same script.

Wranglers Take Command Early

West Mesquite wasted no time grabbing the momentum. The offense came out sharp, stacking first downs and chunk plays, while the defense slammed the brakes on Creekview’s early possessions. By halftime, the Wranglers had built a cushion that felt insurmountable, and they never allowed the Mustangs to sniff a comeback.

The performance continued a trend that has defined West Mesquite’s rise. Over their last three road outings, they have allowed only 11.3 points per game, marrying physical defense with a fast and confident offensive attack.

Mustangs Show Fight Despite the Setback

Creekview entered the night unbeaten and refused to fold quietly. Ahmari Washington delivered a strong night as a receiving threat, hauling in 91 yards and two touchdowns. Brendyn Shed chipped in 88 yards of his own, hauling down contested catches that kept the offense alive.

Still, the Mustangs’ dream start to the season ran into one of the most complete teams in the district. West Mesquite simply had too much horsepower on both sides of the ball, handing Creekview its first loss of the year.

The Mustangs now regroup at 8 and 1, while the Wranglers continue to look like a team surging at exactly the right time.
