Prosper, Southlake Carroll Set for Quarterback Showcase in Friday Night Clash

Two of Texas’ most dynamic quarterbacks are about to share the same stage. Prosper’s Braeden Imhoff and Southlake Carroll’s Angelo Renda headline a marquee matchup Friday at 7 p.m., where both programs arrive blazing hot. Prosper enters with four straight wins, while the undefeated Dragons have stacked twelve in a row.

Prosper Riding High After Another Blowout

The Eagles punched their postseason ticket with authority last week, dismantling Berkner 50 to 24. It marked Prosper’s ninth win of the year by more than twenty five points, another reminder of how quickly this offense can overwhelm opponents.

That offensive surge leaned heavily on the one-two punch of Lathon Latiolais and Bryce Robinson. Latiolais piled up 102 total yards, while Robinson delivered his best rushing performance since October with 96 yards and a touchdown. When this backfield gets rolling, Prosper’s tempo becomes a problem for anyone trying to slow them down.

Dragons Unleash Their Most Explosive Game Yet

Southlake Carroll answered Prosper’s strong outing with a jaw-dropping performance of its own. The Dragons throttled San Angelo Central 72 to 7, posting their highest point total of the season and making it look effortless.

Playmakers surged at every level. Blake Gunter turned in a versatile showcase with a receiving touchdown, 68 yards through the air, and another score on the ground. Brock Boyd stretched the field with 139 receiving yards, routinely winning one-on-one matchups.

The ground attack may have been the most frightening element, though. Carroll ripped off 359 rushing yards, their largest total of the year, behind an offensive line that mauled defenders from the opening series.

Defensively, the Dragons matched their offense with equal force. Three different players — Brody Bourgeois, Robbie Ladd, and Parker Harris — came away with interceptions. Ladd stayed scorching, notching his seventh straight game with at least five tackles, while Austin Bussmann created havoc with a sack, a forced fumble, and eight tackles.

Records, History, and What’s at Stake

Prosper enters at 11 and 1. Southlake Carroll stands at 12 and 0, looking every bit the championship contender their ranking suggests.

These two last crossed paths in September of 2021, a matchup Carroll controlled in a 31 to 0 shutout. Prosper gets another crack at the Dragons, this time without having to deal with former Carroll star Owen Allen, who torched them that night.

Will that open the door for a different ending, or will the Dragons keep soaring?
Friday’s showdown will give the answer in front of a packed stadium and statewide eyes.
