Streaks Collide as Melissa and Argyle Clash in Friday Night Showdown
Two programs with serious momentum are headed for a collision course on Friday, and only one will walk away with its streak intact. Melissa has turned its home field into a fortress with six straight wins, while Argyle has been unbeatable away from home for eleven consecutive road trips. Something has to give when the Cardinals host the Eagles at seven o’clock.
Cardinals Come In on a Tear
Melissa enters with confidence after dismantling Anna in last week’s playoff test. The Cardinals raced out to a 28 to 0 halftime advantage and never looked back, cruising to a 49 to 7 victory that showcased both firepower and control. It continued a season-long trend for Melissa, which has cleared thirty one points or more in every matchup for nearly three months.
Argyle Brings Heavy Artillery
Argyle arrives with its own brand of offensive fireworks after outpacing Walnut Grove in a wild 59 to 42 shootout. Quarterback Maguire Gasperson once again stole the spotlight, firing for three hundred thirty nine yards and four touchdowns while adding a rushing score. He has now topped three hundred passing yards in three straight outings, running an offense that has become one of the most efficient in the state.
Gasperson leaned heavily on standout wide receiver Julian Caldwell, who delivered another multi score performance and continues to be a matchup nightmare for opposing secondaries.
Tale of the Tape
Melissa stands at ten and two and has found its stride at the perfect time. Argyle counters with a twelve and one record and a road résumé unmatched in the region.
These two last met in August of 2023, a game Melissa dominated in a fifty to fourteen victory. The Cardinals hope history repeats itself, but this Argyle squad enters far more seasoned and explosive than it was then.
Friday night will reveal which streak has staying power and which one ends under the stadium lights.
